Through the highs and lows, the housing market is always a hot topic of conversation. When discussing the economy, conversations around real estate construction, supply and demand almost always come up in parallel—and with rising mortgage rates and an increasing housing affordability crisis, prospective homebuyers need to assess their options.
By optimizing housing choices, Zillow Group aims to help people make better decisions about where they live—and I’d say they’re doing a pretty good job. The company has grown its web and mobile app traffic to over 188 million unique visitors per month with approximately 1.9 billion visits annually.
With the largest and most vibrant portfolio of real estate and home-related brands on the web and mobile focused on all stages of the home lifecycle—renting, buying, selling, financing and home improvement—Zillow’s comprehensive suite of marketing software and technology solutions helps real estate, rental and mortgage professionals connect with millions of consumers worldwide.
The company’s brands, consisting of Zillow, Trulia, StreetEasy and RealEstate.com, are committed to empowering consumers with unparalleled data, inspiration and knowledge around homes and then connecting them with the right local professionals to help make their dreams a reality.
But in order to make users more efficient and happier with their day-to-day technology experiences, Zillow Group requires a digital workplace that empowers employees to do their best work—especially as the company continues to innovate and grow at a rapid pace. This led Zillow to taking a cloud-first approach to IT by moving over to AWS for their infrastructure and image hosting and distribution needs.
As Zillow scales its business, the number of employees has grown to support new business models—as did the need for a more modern, highly standardized communication method. To support this growth, Zillow’s Director of IT, Ryan Blackbourn, looked to the cloud-native, interoperable BlueJeans Meetings and BlueJeans Rooms to scale everyday communication capabilities, including collaboration tools and services, to make meetings consistent, robust, and easy to use across multiple offices and meeting rooms.
Zillow also uses BlueJeans Events to host company-wide, all-hands meetings where executive leadership presents to all employees via livestream.
According to Blackbourn, BlueJeans Meetings allows the company to have one, consolidated, “always on” meetings platform makes every room that much more robust. Each meeting experience is simple to use, consistent, and dependable every time—across 250+ conference rooms outfitted with Lifesize hardware. So now, no matter where an employee is located, they don’t skip a beat when it comes to meet.
“When we add 200 new employees, we utilize technology to help us scale. This means self-service and automation are big initiatives continue to be large initiatives for my teams’ focuses. BlueJeans really shines in making users lives easier for collaborating across the country.” – Director of IT, Ryan Blackbourn
